Cultural & Sports Activities


The college has been promoting cultural and sports activities not as a matter of policy but as a platform to groom youngsters for the coming years. The Annual Cultural Fest or ‘Social’ of the college, organised by the College Students’, is held every year with great enthusiasm. The programme is celebrated with creativity, enthusiasm and a youthful dynamism. ‘Nabin Baran’ or the Freshers’ Welcome ceremony is also organized as a grand welcome for the newcomers. Other special occasions like Independance Day, Republic Day, Vibekananda’s Birthday, Rabindra Jayanti, Nazrul Jayanti, Teachers’ Day, Basanta Utsav etc. are also observed with due diligence and solemn reverence. The Students’ Week provides a great scope for students to practice and showcase their versatile extra-curricular talents. On the departmental level also several programmes and academic competitions are held with earnest enthusiasm all round the year. Organisation and observation of cultural programmes and co-curricular activities are given special importance, given their special role in holistic development of young students.

Along with ample facilities for indoor games and a well-equipped gymnasium, the college Annual Sports, takes a competitive and festive mood each year that excites strong enthusiasm among the students, non-teaching and teaching staff. Students from various departments especially, Physical Education department regularly participate in various tournaments and sports meets organized by several district level, state level as well as national sports bodies, securing prestigious positions and prizes on and off. The college boasts of a strong legacy of sportsmen and athletes who have constantly excelled at various events, glorifying the name of the locality and the district at large.

Thus the college promotes a strong environment of cultural and physical development alongside academic enlightenment, contributing to its fundamental commitment of character-making and nation-building through the youth.
