About The Department
Indas Mahavidyalaya started its journey from 2006. Since its inception the subject Bengali is being taught. Initially Bengali was taught as a pass course subject. From the year 2007, honours curriculum was introduced and is being continued till date. The course began with 25 students. Today the number of seats in this division is 370. During that time our college was under Burdwan University. From 2017, we are under Bankura University. The first honours batch graduated in 2010. All students qualified and one of them secured a first class.
Today this department is the pride of this area. Readings, discussions, cultural activities are done jointly by students and faculty.
A regular wall magazine is issued from our department. The name of the wall magazine is “Udita”.
The topper of this course is awarded “Rabindra Award” at Nabin Baran Utsav held by the department.
Mr. Debashis Debnath and Sk. Id Mohammed started teaching in our department since its inception. In November’ 2006, the first permanent faculty Dr. Tapas Ray had joined. Since then several teachers have joined in various capacities. All of them have made their contributions and enriched the department. Students have immensely benefitted by coming in touch with the various faculty members. At present there are four full time faculties and one SACT in this department.
